(Thoughts and Acts of Peace)

1 September - 3 December 3, 2008

A campaign for peace organized by
the MINDANAO COMMISSION ON WOMEN
and MOTHERS FOR PEACE

Give minutes of peace
by creating positive and peaceful thoughts
through silence, prayer, or meditation.

Share peace
by doing acts of peace.

Never underestimate the power of a million
thoughts and acts of peace!

The objective of the campaign is to involve as many people as possible in the campaign for nationwide and global peace by giving minutes spent in thoughts of peace through silence, prayer, or meditation and sharing minutes of peace by doing acts of peace. It allows people to take a break from their daily routines to think peaceful thoughts and do peaceful acts , thereby achieving inner peace and contributing to peace in our world.

A single thought has changed the world.
How much more a million thoughts?
A single act has changed the world.
How much more a million acts?

The campaign is part of the celebration of the United Nations Decade of a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence to Children of the World (2000-2010), and the Mindanao Week of Peace.

The nationwide campaign was launched on September 1, 2008.  It culminated during the Mindanao Week of Peace on December 3, 2008 .

The campaign will gather TAPs (thoughts and acts of peace) from individuals through:

•  hardcopy participation forms to be sent to local organizers;
•  online participation forms in this site

.

Quote

  • “Weak governance, acute poverty for the minorities, and poor management of differences in faith and culture have greatly reduced Mindanao’s capacity to achieve peace and development.”
